As the University navigates through the waters of the “new normal” brought about by the pandemic, wearing face coverings( Face masks) remains one of the most effective measures to slow its spread. However, many students refuse to wear them, wear them incorrectly, or still underestimate their importance
“COVID-19 has had profound health and socioeconomic impacts across the world.
The SUG empathize and mourn the lives lost to the pandemic. And even though the outbreak appears to be slowing in Africa/Nigeria, now is not the time to be complacent,” says Comr. Egwu Benjamin Lotanna, president and Chairman, UNIBEN SUG TASKFORCE ON COVID'19 INTERVENTION.
“With increasing evidence that masks can limit the spread of COVID-19, and eventually eliminate the disease if worn by 80-90% of the population, we need to do what we can to make a meaningful difference.
Wearing a mask is not only about protecting oneself, but about respecting and protecting others,” says Comr. Egwu Benjamin Lotanna
To help drive this behaviour, The Golden Age Executives, through the office of the President is committing its Valentine day celebration 14th of February,2020 kick starting the campaign and encourage every student to do more to save lives.
#UNIBEN SUG TASKFORCE ON COVID'19 INTERVENTION is an initiative tailored to support the efforts of UNIBEN SURVEILLANCE CLUB set up by the University of BENIN Vice Chancellor, Prof Lilian Salami.
It is a powerful call-to-action using the voices of some of the most influential people in our communities and calling for support from the public to donate to the service of humanity
“Wearing a mask is, of course, not the only thing we all need to do to slow the spread of the virus: regular handwashing and strict social distancing are just as important says Comr Egwu Benjamin Lotanna for maximum discharge of their duties
